I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Yeah, shipping has its own environmental factors but I was able to support an indigenous owned business while also getting my groceries at a lesser cost. (Buying in bulk is always a good idea if you’re planning on having something shipped to you)

the number of people in the replies who think that outrage against satanic aesthetics is somehow justified fucking blows my mind. it’s 2021. the satanic panic is over girl.

lil nas x, a gay black man, using satanic aesthetics is an intentional choice to create social commentary. jazz and rock n roll, styles of music invented and developed by black people, were called devil music. queer people are constantly maligned as being in legion with the devil. this is exactly the kind of trope he is invoking and subverting here.

it’s also worth considering why the blood of a gay black man may be seen as more “unclean” in comparison to that of a straight white man—like perhaps gay black men were particularly at risk during the AIDS crisis.

hello i can answer this, the reason it's important to block/report bots is bc they use your blog as a 'trustworthy' link back to them so that search algos on google, bing, etc will think that their blog is a legitimate site. one bot with a ray bans scam isnt gonna do much harm, but hundreds of ray bans bots with links to hundred of legitimate blogs, through the likes on their posts, cause problems

Last Minute Hurricane Prep

With hurricane Ida within hours of making landfall, while it might be too late to leave, there’s still some time to prepare

• Fill containers with (safe to drink) water, freeze them, and stick them in your fridge and freezer. This will help keep it colder if the power goes out and you have extra water. Make sure you leave some room at the top of the containers for the ice to expand.
• Set your fridge to the coldest setting as well
• If you anticipate the power going out, put your food in trash bags in the fridge. if you lose power for too long and the food goes bad, you can easily throw it out
• While this is typically recommended for evacuating, you can still put a coin on top of a frozen cup of water to see if your power was out while you were asleep. If the coin has sunk into the ice, your food probably isn’t good anymore.
• Fill your sinks and bathtubs with water in case the water is unsafe or is shut off. You can use it to wash, flush your toilet, etc. 
• Related to #2, try to take a shower ahead of time
• Also do dishes/laundry if you can since you might not be able to for a few days
• Make sure your devices are fully charged. Even if you don’t have internet or service, you can still use your phone as a flashlight and entertainment (no power can get boring real fast)
• Make sure all your radios, flashlights, etc have batteries ahead of time. Don’t need to be looking for batteries in the dark
• Take pictures of your valuables for insurance
• Keep your important documents in a safe in an area that will either not get damaged or that you can quickly take with you if you need to leave in an emergency. In fact, keep an emergency bag packed in case you need to 
• Bring any loose items (Chairs, plants, etc) that are in your yard/patio inside.

hurricane ida is destroying my house

hurricane ida update: our power went out about two hours ago, the rains and winds have gotten worse. we keep getting huge leaks in our ceiling in almost all the rooms in the house. our glass backdoor is leaking water all over the floors. we cant flush our toilets and there's a boil water advisory for the whole area. we can see our neighbors' roofs getting ripped off from the force of the winds alone and the squeaking and whistling coming from the attic is freaking us out

things are not looking too good for us, almost regretting that we stayed but I know we can't afford a hotel and we don't have many places we can go with 6 people and 6 cats.
